PURPOSES, FEATURES AND BENEFITS of an Elevator Speech:

  • Can be used it in ALL work and social situations to answer the question "what do you do?"
Keeps you focused on your target employer(s).
  • Attract others to you by means of a clear, brief and comfortable verbal communication tool spoken with enthusiasm that connects with the heart of your listener.
  • It is an audio logo.
Create several 'elevator speeches' --- one for each of your target jobs.
  • Rehearse each one 5 – 10 times a day

THREE EXAMPLES of Elevator Speeches
(Speeches I use about my coaching practice)

"You know how difficult it is for most job seekers with Attention Deficit Disorder to stay focused and organized? Well, what I do is help them stay focused, goal oriented, productive and efficient, so that they feel more self-confident and quantify their social accomplishments. I really love helping people make their life/work easier."

"You know how difficult it is for shy job seekers to contact strangers and to introduce themselves to others in social situations? Well, what I do is help them to create some questions to ask themselves that reduces their anxiety-related stress. They feel more self-confident, make more telephone calls and introduce themselves to more strangers in social situations. I really enjoy making it easier for shy people"

"You know how difficult it is for newly unemployed professionals to get a systematic job search launched when they have no outplacement support from their ex-employer? Well, what I do is help unemployed (and employed) professionals design a job search plan that fits their skills and personal strengths. Then, I support them while they execute their plan, get better at it and more comfortable doing the really difficult parts of it. I share their joy when they get the job they want easier than they expected."
